L.A native Haylee Graham has written stories since an early age. She finished her first novel at 500 pages titled FLYAWAY before her graduation of high school in 2011.

After selling nearly 200 copies and receiving marvelous reviews, Haylee was driven with the desire to tell more stories to the world.  Six months after graduation, Haylee completed and released her most thrilling novel, CENTAURUS.  Instantly, CENTAURUS became a hit online, gathering up to 2,000 online reads and an overwhelming amount of great feedback.

"Readers were saying it was the next Twilight series.  I wasn't too sure how to react to that, really." Haylee laughs. " In 2014, at the age of 22, the first novel in the Centaurus series was then published nationwide by Yorkshire Publishing.

“Having CENTAURUS published was a prime example that all work truly pays off,” Haylee reports. “I had to hand-write all 353 pages of that novel since at the time, I didn't have my own laptop.”  She then would travel twice a day, every day, to type up what she had written in an email draft at the public library.

After CENTAURUS came CLOSER THAN WE KNOW, a novella Haylee wrote at the ripe age of 21 that was inspired by true events following the suicide of one of her childhood friends.  "At this point," Haylee says with a hint of sadness, "I wanted to find a way to help the people who were hurting from his death and give them some sort of hope and comfort. My focus shifted from writing novels for my own outlet and remedy, to writing novels for others."

CLOSER THAN WE KNOW received the most amount of positive reviews, and was used as a learning tool in various schools throughout the country to raise awareness on bullying and suicide.  Haylee then teamed up with the AMERICAN FOUNDATION for SUICIDE PREVENTION (www.afsp.org) so that 50% of the novel’s proceeds would be donated to the research, study, and prevention of suicide in America.

Following CLOSER THAN WE KNOW, Haylee completed, PRETENDING YOU'RE ALIVE, a deeply personal autobiographical novel presenting a new perspective on God.  "That novel," says the 25 year old author, "is the most personal novel I could ever write.  I take the reader’s hand and have them walk with me through the hardest and darkest times of my life.  It's also my testimony of faith and how God saved my life from coming to a destructive halt.  I present a fresh perspective on God to the youth, especially for those who have been hurt by religion.”

So why exactly does Haylee Graham write novels?

"I strive to write entertaining fiction that will keep the reader on the edge of the seat while at the same time, inspire the betterment of their own lives," Haylee responds. "Each of my novels carry some important moral or life lesson within each story.  I write to inspire and give hope."

Shortly after her bout with novels, Haylee turned to the big screen. She adapted CENTAURUS to screenplay and then followed with an idea she's had since she was nineteen years old. "I knew that no one would ever do it unless I did," she recounts. "It all started with my passion for Ancient Rome. You watch movies based in the Roman era and there’s usually only one lateral perspective revolving around one typical blood-and-guts story-line," says Haylee.
"So I wrote my first television pilot, IMPERIAL BEAST. I knew Ancient Rome’s history had far more to offer than just the gladiators of the Coliseum, as incredible as they were.” Inspired by true events, IMPERIAL BEAST reveals some of the greatest scandals in human history surrounding the grand Roman Emperor, Hadrian, and his mysterious succession.  Following IMPERIAL BEAST, Haylee completed another series titled CHOICES, an interactive drama following the lives of five post-high school graduates. “This one will interact and engage with audiences in a way that hasn’t been done before,” Haylee gleams. “As dramatic as it is, the series is written in a way where it will inspire audiences to make better, more life-giving choices of redemption and conviction, rather than destruction and darkness.” As Haylee continues in her writing quest, she hopes that with each and every story, those from all walks of life will be able to squeeze out hope, inspiration, and encouragement and bridge the gap between faraway fiction and this real, crazy world.
